What a long day...

Today I woke up at 7 and walked very quickly into town to get money out of the bank then made it to the gym by 8am to get in a quick session before college. By the time I'd gotten changed I only had around ten minutes in the gym! I managed to fit in 7 minutes on the XRamp burning 50 calories.

I then went to college and had two slices of toast with Flora.

At lunch I had Thai Chicken Curry with Rice. I completely forgot that I'm not meant to be eating meat anymore! How thick am I? Oh, well. I also had a packet of low-calorie crisp things and a cappucino.

At 4pm I went for my second gym session of the day feeling moody, tired and fed up. It's no surprise, then, that I only managed to do 18 minutes/3 miles/100 calories on the bike before deciding I wanted nothing more than to go home and relax on my couch. So, that's what I did.

I just had dinner which was a cheese and sundried tomato panini.

It's weigh in day tomorrow and from now on on weigh-in days I will be setting goals for the week ahead. Either a 'how much I want to lose' goal or a 'how far I want to bike/run' goal or something similar. :)

Time flies!

It's almost the end of week two already! Gosh, it's flown by.

So, this morning I woke up and ate a third of a bowl of branflakes and a few pieces of banana. Evidently I wasn't in a food-mood this morning.

I then dragged myself to college.

At lunch I had some leftover tomato and garlic pasta with half a small boiled potato and then a banana.

A few hours later I had a banana to re-fuel me for the gym.

Then an hour later I went to the gym.

Today was a bit lack-lustre but that's probably due to yesterday being so...well, fantastic!

Bike - 28 minutes, 5 miles,174 calories.
XRamp - 16 minutes,101 calories.

Then I came home and had dinner which was a panini cut in half with two baked eggs and sundried tomatos.

Right now, I'm relaxing with a cup of tea before grabbing an early night to be at the gym for (hopefully) a weight training session tomorrow morning before the afternoons cardio session.

My arse is numb.

This morning I woke up and had a bowl of bran flakes with a banana, as I do most days. I'd been craving it since last night so it was HEAVEN.

I then tidied up and cleaned the kitchen for a few hours whilst watching movies. Then realised I was running late for the gym since I wanted a longer workout today. So, no time for lunch. I grabbed a banana which I ate on the walk up.

Today it was PACKED in the gym so I was a bit put off by the fact I couldn't do my usual routine of bike first etc.. so I started off on the Crossramp and here's what I did today ;

Crossramp - 15 minutes, 100 calories.
Bike - 32 minutes, SIX MILES!! burning 203 calories.
Crossramp - 50 minutes,300 calories.

I only left because I had to shower and meet James. I felt like I could have gone on and on and on and on! And I feel so full of energy just now and so HAPPY!

When we got home I had some leftover tomato and garlic pasta with some boiled potato. And now I'm relaxing :)

If it wasn't for Dragonforce...

...I wouldn't have gotten through the last half hour or so at the gym today. But, I forgot to update yesterday (well, I actually didn't have time) so I'll start with yesterday morning.

I woke up yesterday morning and done 20 sit ups before breakfast which was the Overnight Oats I mentioned in the last post. To be honest, I didn't really enjoy it that much and only ate about a 1/3 o f a bowl plus a few slices of kiwi and mango.

I then spent an hour tidying before having lunch which was baked potato (one and a half small potatoes) wiht 1/2 a tin of baked beans.

Then I walked up to the gym and done ;

3 miles on the bike burning 104 calories.
BREAK TO FILL WATER BOTTLE.
another 3 miles on the bike burning 107 calories.
Then 50 calories on the Crossramp.

I came home, had a handful of nachos to tide me over until dinner and then a few hours later had dinner which was wholewheat pasta with mushrooms and peppers.

Then bed :)

I woke up this morning and grabbed a banana to eat on the way to college (no time for breakfast! Oops...)

At lunch I had a turkey sandwhich, a rice cake and a banana.

Then a few hours later I hit the gym and done ;

3 miles on the bike burning 103 calories.
140 calories on the Crossramp.
At this point I felt a bit sick so sat down for a minute out in the hall then decided I wanted to try to do at least another mile on the bike and went back in to do 1.50 mile on the bike burning 43 calories.

I walked home..it took ages because for some reason (probably the lack of proper breakfast) I felt rubbish. When I got in I inhaled my dinner which was leftover pasta with two pieces of bread. It was all I wanted/was craving. Yum.

Come with me now on a journey through ankle pain...(kinda rhymes with time and space, right?)

I woke up at around 12 oclock. I know, terrible, huh? So, I had this for breakfast / lunch ;

Scrambled egg with peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes with a piece of bread (well, two - but I only ate one) - it took me a long time to eat this.

Then I had a cup of tea and two weight watchers biscuits ;

The plan today was to stay away from the gym and anything that could upset my ankle which has been bothering me every time I work out. I decided to try some yoga / pilates instead. I used to be able to pull a mean Lotus Position... but I almost injured myself trying today! So, pilates / yoga is not for me or I need to try an easier pose first and I think tomorrow I'll just go to the gym but try to go easy on my ankle.

James made himself cheese on toast and asked if I wanted a slice since he couldn't eat it all. I took it grudgingly but thoroughly enjoyed it once I started eating it! ;

James makes excellent cheese on toast!

And then a while later I had a banana ;

And that is all for today. Since I didn't do much physical activity (apart from scrubbing the kitchen and tidying up a little) I didn't need as much food. It's a shame because we have a LOT of potatoes that need to be eaten or they'll go off :p I must remember to eat some tomorrow for lunch and dinner!

Oh, before I go ; I made Overnight Oats! I put a few handfuls of porridge oats into a 1/2 full container of Fat Free Strawberry Yoghurt with a tiny bit of milk. I can't wait to try it tomorrow with some fresh fruit.

End of week 1.

This morning I woke up and ate a banana and a few spoonfuls of yoghurt. I really wasn't in the mood for eating and felt a bit off... but food is fuel and my body needed it, so...

Then we went into town and spent an hour or two walking around before grabbing lunch. I had an egg and tomato sandwhich.

Then I got the bus up to the gym (lazy cow! But it was too hot to walk.)

I weighed myself and was relieved to find that I've lost a pound. It's not much (and, truth be told I did cheat and weigh myself a few days ago and I'd lost TWO...so I've put a pound back on. Probably due to yesterdays lazy-piggish day) but it's a loss and that's all that matters.

The first week wasn't really about the weight, it was about acclimitising myself to the gym and healthy eating/living again. And, boy - am I acclimatised! I felt awful yesterday and had a headache most of the evening because I put junk into my body and didn't work out and I payed the price by feeling sluggish and irritable.

Anyway.
At the gym I done ;

3 miles on the bike easily without any huffing or puffing. I only stopped because my knee started bothering me. Burned 105 calories.
Then 60 calories burned on the crosstrainer.
Then I attempted to do a bit of running on the treadmill and managed to burn a grand total of 12 calories before my knee and ankle (on the right side. I have a feeling I lean too much/put too much weight on that side) started aching.

Walked home after showering and spent a few hours lazing around trying to make my ankle feel better.

Then had dinner (mushroom pasta in white sauce) and am now drinking a cup of tea.

Overall, I've had a good first week. I feel better already, lost a pound and feel really confident about what the future holds.

The MOTHER of all Lazy Days!

This morning I woke up at 7 with the intention of going into college.
But I was drawn back to bed by the warmth and the lovely man in it.

This next bit may be a bit too much information, but since it's the most of a workout I got today... I had sex. Not sure how many calories, but there you go...

Then I had my breakfast of bran flakes and a banana.

Then I done very little for most of the day. Then had lunch ; an egg and butter sandwhich, a banana and a small glass of Coke.

Then I spent an hour or two cleaning the rat cage with James which is actually quite tiring and painful since all the bits conspire together to make it difficult/hit me as much as possible.

Then I had dinner ; sausage and tomato pasta. Followed by a slice of fudge cake that James practically FORCED me to eat... uh... yeah.

So, all things said... I was a lazy cow today (haha!) and will probably pay for it tomorrow when I weigh myself at the gym :p

Feelin' good!

No pictures today, since I feel a bid odd taking photos of my food at college and everyone already thinks I'm a complete weirdo :p.

This morning I got up ultra early for a quick gym session before college. On the way I ate a banana.

I got to the gym and done 1.3 miles on the bike burning 40 calories.
Then 2 minutes on the rowing machine burning 20 calories.

Then went to get breakfast which was two slices of toast with two fried eggs and a mocha latte.

Fast forward to lunch which was a turkey and tomato sandwhich and a packet of Golden Lites.

Then I left college early (around 1.15) and went back to the gym to do ;

3 miles on the bike (104 cal)
xxx on the crosstrainer (50 cal)
3 miles on the bike (106 cal)
xxx on the crosstrainer (50 cal)

After showering and massaging my aching muscles, I walked home munching an apple as I went.

When I got in I ate two weight watchers biscuits.

Then a few hours later we had dinner which was chicken kievs and curly fries with a bit of bread for me. Followed by a serving of Cookies n Cream ice cream which tasted more like coffee ice cream, but was lovely anyway :)

Wednesday, 21 April 2010

Ouchie.

This morning, as usual ;

Followed by a lazy morning then lunch - turkey and tomato panini with half a cup of orange juice ;

Followed swiftly by a walk down three flights of stairs with four rubbish bags full of junk to chuck in the bin then two hours of walking all over the place in search of somewhere to print a bloody CV off. No luck, but hey - at least it counts towards todays physical activities!

I got home and had a snack (some nachos!) ;

Then walked up to the gym... where I was told I could only go in for 15 minutes because there was a class going in. Brilliant... I managed 2.05 miles on the bike burning 64 calories then had to leave.

Once home James shoved these at me and I decided 'What the heck' ;

Followed later by dinner of two small potatoes with 2/3rds of a can of baked beans ;

Booked into the gym at 8am tomorrow before college so hopefully I'll finally get to have a decent workout without being interrupted or having something go wrong! :)

Lazy day...

Today, as the title suggests, I had a lazy day. I woke up this morning and had one of my favourite (if not my absolute favourite) breakfasts - bran flakes and banana! ;

Then commenced todays physical activity... cleaning and tidying! I done the entire kitchen - made it gleam! It's not the gym but it is a full body workout and I made sure I was making the most of it as I was doing it.

I had lunch when I was halfway through cleaning the kitchen - a turkey and tomato sandwhich, a banana and a cup of orange juice.

Then I continued cleaning until it was finished. I then ran a bath with pots and a kettle - not the normal way, but it's basically weight lifting and it seemed like a good idea :) and let my aching muscles have a rest.

When I got out of the bath a long while later, I had a snack (I've been ravenous today!) ;

Another cup of orange juice (todays craving!) and an egg mayonnaise sandwhich.

I then spent most of the day unwinding then had dinner which was two small-ish baked sweet potatoes and a quarter can of baked beans ;

It was at this point that I was meant to be going to the gym but I decided I really didn't like the idea of walking home in the dark/semi-dark. I probably wouldn't have ate so much through the day if I'd realised this earlier, but I'm not too bothered which is proven by the fact that I just had a lovely snack - a serving of nachos ;

So, not a very productive day physically but mentally and emotionally I feel fantastic and I'm raring to go to the gym once my package has been delivered tomorrow!

Why did no one tell me a half marathon was THIRTEEN MILES?!

I couldn't update last night so here is what happened Saturday ;

I woke up, grabbed a banana and munched it on the way to the gym. It was raining and I really wasn't feeling the walk up, but I managed to force myself with the aid of my trusty banana and my i-pod :)

I LOVE bananas!

At the gym I was in a bit of a rush to get home by 10.30 so had to have a short workout. I managed ;

BIKE ; 2 miles in 11 minutes burning 73 calories.
TREADMILL ; 0.50 miles in 10 and a half minutes burning 52 calories.
then back to the
BIKE ; 0.50 miles in 3 minutes burning 18 calories.

I was barely sweating by the time I left but had to pack, make lunch and get a bus so had no choice but to leave. The fact I didn't WANT to leave is good, though!

When I got home I had a delicious breakfast of bran flakes and banana with skimmed milk ;

It was GORGEOUS. I love bran flakes. And bananas. Together? Wow! :)

I made my lunch to take with me to eat on the bus, packed my bag and got changed.

We then walked into town and I got on my bus (after waiting an hour since I'd missed one!)

Ten minutes into the bus ride it was lunch time so I went into my bag to find... I'd forgot to pack my lunch. Luckily I had some WW biscuits but...I'd been looking forward to my ham salad sandwhich and apple and I never feel right if I skip lunch... ach well, the biscuits were okay ;

I headed straight to my Mums when I got off the bus and, thankfully, it was dinner time by then! I had Chicken Bolognaise with some garlic bread (lucky I didn't have lunch really, eh?)

It was lovely!

Between dinnertime (3.30ish, early because Mum was going out) and when they came in at 1am I had two sandwhiches (see? If I miss lunch I'm ravenous all day!)

One corned beef ;

And one with chicken paste (I love it!) and low-fat-cheese-spread ;

Then went to bed at around 1.30

///////////

I woke up on Sunday morning and done 30 sit ups and 5 left crunches and 5 right crunches. Not many but I'm a bit achey from the past two days of my body getting used to the gym again and Beth came and started trying to stand on me halfway through...

Then I had breakfast which was toast and a bit of Flora ;

And then my Dad picked me up and we went to his. He tried to tempt/tease me with chocolate and crisps and pies and all sorts, but I had a nice lunch planned and wasn't about to ruin my hard work the past two days. I had a banana ;

I went into town to meet Dean and had a lovely lunch - a bit of a treat, but oh well. It was a Chicken and Vegetable pasty from Piemaker. Yum!

Then we walked around Edinburgh for ages. Then we went to wait at the bus station for my bus and on the way I bought him a Chocco Rocco at Millies and got myself a Hazelnut Latte - we drunk them in the bus station with two WW cookies each ;

Then I got home a few hours later and had my dinner ;

That's that for now :)

And she's off...!

This morning I woke up a little later than I'd intended and had breakfast. A bowl of porridge made with hot water (no milk) with a pinch of cinnamon. I ate about a quarter of what is in the picture then walked the 10 minutes to the gym.

I got my gym pass renewed for the next month and then got a bottle of water since I'd forgotten mine then got on the machine that weighs you and tells you how much you weigh and what your ideal weight is. What the print out said,along with the measurements I took before I left the house ;

I weigh 90.4KG/14 Stone 3lbs/199.2lbs
Boobies ; 40 E
Waist ; 39''
Hips ; 47''

Ouch. None of it is really that shocking since I already know I'm massive. So, onto getting rid of those inches and lbs!

I done a mile (7 minutes) on the static bike burning 40 calories.
Then half a mile (10 minutes) on the treadmill burning 50 calories.
Then went back to the bike to do another 1.8 miles (10 minutes) burning 60 calories.

At this point I decided that I'd stop since I still had to go shopping and lug two weeks worth of food up three flights of stairs. It was a very short workout but not bad for a first day back, I'd say. If I add on the walk there and back then the walk to Asda (twenty minutes) then the 3 flights of stairs with four heavy bags, I'd say I've had an okay first day. So, I left and re-hydrated with my lovely bottle of water as I walked home. Hydration is key.

When I got home I rested for about ten minutes and snacked on some Weight Watchers Ginger biscuits (100 calories between the two, if anyone is interested) ;

Then we walked to Asda and done our shopping then brought it home and lugged it up three floors. Then packed everything away. And then I had lunch (late) which was a cottage cheese and sundried tomato panini ;

Then another bottle of water and between lunch and dinner I ate another two WW Cookies - Raspberry and White Chocolate.

Then had dinner which was roast chicken with roast onion, butternut squash, tomato, mushroom and cucumber.

I gave into temptation and ate the Daim bar I had left from yesterday before I got all the healthy food in. Now it's not there to tempt me and I don't feel like I've deprived myself - it's easier when there isn't junk in the house :)

In the beginning there was lard...

...lots and lots of lard.

Hello, blog-world! My name is Emma. I'm 20 years old and overweight. Not cuddly, not big boned, not podgy or chubby - obese. This blog is going to track my progress as I go in search of my waist (I had one once, honest!) and work towards my goals of being fit enough to do a Charity Trek (www.charitychallenge.com) and take part in the Edinburgh Half Marathon.

I have been overweight before and lost the weight (I was around 12-13 stone and managed to get down to 9 stone) but I never really took a holistic aproach to it and that's probably why I've put the weight back on. I wasn't in tune with what my body needed - I didn't eat enough and I only concentrated on being thin rather than being healthy.

This blog will hold me accountable. I'll be documenting everything I eat and all the physical activities I do and publishing my stats (weight, measurements, bmi) regularly. It will all be here in black and white to keep me on the right path to being (once again) slim and also healthy and fit.

The journey will be starting on Saturday the 17th of April 2010 and I'm looking forward to the journey as well as the destination.

For now, blog-world, ta-ta!
